It Was Like That When I Got There
Jun 19 2017, 12:54 PM

(Closed to Sarah Lovely)

Come with us to the Ministry, he said. She could go back to messing with the banners when they got back from seeing their dad at the Ministry, he said. Well, Vincent James said a lot of things that day, but he didn’t mention the blonde would pop up outside these dirty old ruins in Peru right in front of a very startled llama. Apparently they spit, which the ditz only found out when she immediately tried to pet it. Oh, and they stink pretty bad too.

Anyways, after running away from the llama, Hunter had spotted a village a short distance downhill and tried to get help to take her back to Hogwarts. Yeah, well, the thing is, she somehow found herself dragged into the middle of this tribal festival thing; like a rave with flowers and masks. She would have tried harder to come back, only with all the music and the fact they really seemed to like her glitter, she kinda got caught up in everything. By the time she was found, Hunter was in the middle of receiving a tattoo that may or may not have concluded with her adoption into the tribe once it was finished. It was hard to tell, really, they could have been marrying her off for all she knew, but the unfinished design on her left thigh looked totally badass.

Now here she was, back in school and trying to remember which house banners she’d been messing with in the first place. The blonde stood in the very spot where Vincent, who she’d found out was one of her older half-brothers, had dragged her away from something very important. Oh yes, she remembered, staring at the Ravenclaw banners with a mischievous glint in her eyes. The eagles were outstripping the rest of the school in the house points race, plus she had a new friend in there she hadn’t finished pranking, and that meant only one thing. Those blue flags were going down.

Poking her tongue out in concentration, the tiny witch slipped her wand free of her sleeve and checked to see that the corridor appeared to be clear. Satisfied, she tiptoed closer on ridiculously tall platform heels, the noise echoing through the deserted corridor, and tugged. Without a pair of Sticky Trainers, she couldn’t get up there to see how it was stuck to the wall. That meant taking a guess - and being quick about it. ”Alright then,” she muttered, pushing her sleeves back to show she meant business.

”Diffindo,” the witch quickly intoned, pointing at the underside of the banner and pulling back it at the same time. It came away near the top with a satisfyingly loud ripping noise. ”Hah!” The Gryffindor let out a single, barking laugh and dropped her trophy to the ground. One down - just a few more to go.

‘Rubbish, 100% pure rubbish!’ Sarah thought to herself angrily as she walked down the hall she took from the Defense Against The Dark Arts class. Sarah wasn’t even sure what direction she was going, she just wanted to be alone. ”Stupid mirror, as if I needed any reminding!” she growled to herself . Sarah stopped for a moment to collect herself , the tears in the back of her eyes threating to burst out at any moment. She needed to get a grip, suck it up. Before coming to Hogwarts, Sarah spent on most her days drowning in the sorrow of not having a family. Eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore, so she swore to lock the pain far, far away. The less it bothered her the better.
Taking a deep breath, Sarah tried to calm herself down. It worked, a little bit at least. ”Great, Sarah said looking around annoyed. I’m alone, but where exactly am I again?” ’sometimes, I swear this castle is too big for its own good.’Sarah muttered mentally. ”Maybe a short walk will help me cool off, it’s worth a try I guess.” ’and perhaps talking to yourself will too? the voice of her conscious sneered. ’because that always works so well I suppose.

Sarah frowned, wishing she could stomp out the annoying little bug of a voice. Choosing to ignore it, Sarah walked on. Deciding to head towards the grounds, she made beeline straight towards what she believed to be the way. As if out of nowhere a sound began to ring out through the hall. Was that…heels?’ Sarah wondered. To be honest she was exactly the nosy type, but if it were a professor she’d probably be in trouble for not being in class.

Deciding it would be a good idea to see exactly who she was trying to avoid, Sarah decided to quietly walk further to the next corner and take a peek. "Diffindo.” came a female, voice from around the corner. Wondering what was happening, Sarah hurried to the scene. Once she turned the corner, Sarah was surprised to see a student there, with her wand out. ”Hey!” Sarah called out. Looking to where the student was facing, Sarah made a small gasp. ”what on earth are you doing?!”Sarah shouted shocked by the sight of a torn banner.

Bringing one of the banners down had been much easier than the tiny blonde expected. Then again, if there’d been any enchantments placed on them to hinder anyone with pilfering in mind, that person would have found a way in the end. Take Hunter for example, she’d have charmed and hexed the place in equal measures until she got what she wanted. Yes, it was much better for the general state of the corridor if the blue flags came away without a fuss.

In the middle of deciding which of them to go for next, the witch heard somebody calling her out. “Hey! What on earth are you doing?” It was a girl’s voice - or a very shrill boy who’d just been kicked somewhere unpleasant. Rather stupidly, she stiffened on the spot and slowly turned to face the shouty witch instead of collecting her trophy and running. Her heart stopped pounding in her chest the moment she caught sight of the interloper: a fellow Gryffindor, and and a younger one at that by the look of things. Well, it would have been hard to tell really, seeing as the little imp was short enough to be mistaken for a first year.

”Stealing the Ravenclaw banners as trophies,” she chuckled, gesturing wildly at those still lining walls and causing her wand tip to spark every colour of the rainbow. Eh, she supposed it was the silly bedraggled thing’s way of telling her to get on with it. ”Isn’t it obvious?” It didn’t even occur to her that the other girl might be affronted - or that a fellow Gryffindor could potentially rat her out.

”You know they’re in the lead, right? As long as they keep racing ahead on house points, I’m going to hide their banners, she trotted eagerly over to the next banner, ”and do, errrr, stuff, with them later.” She didn’t have the brainpower to think ahead and plan exactly what stuff she was going to do with them. Whatever she did, it would surely be epic. Like maybe she could hold them for ransom (payment in dungbombs, thanks), or just give them to the feral cat stalking the girl’s dorms for bedding (totally her fault it was there in the first place).

Oh hell, why not just redecorate them really badly and hang them all in the Great Hall for the whole school to see. Hunter could almost see it now; the Ravenclaw table besieged with ugly pink sparkly crap bearing their emblem. Snickering, the shortass heaved on another banner, pointing her wand at the underside, and cackled, ”Diffindo.” Just like before, the navy-and-bronze material ripped apart near the top and dropped to the floor like a sack without the potatoes.

Giggling madly, she turned to the other witch with her wand still raised and a wild gleam in her eyes. ”Oh, how rude of me, hogging all the fun like that! Do you want a turn?” She gestured at the remaining banners, practically itching to get back to the prank at hand.
