 Morning Flight, Open to everyone
Jun 4 2017, 06:59 AM

Sitting out on the Quidditch pitch, Marisol hummed a tune. There probably wouldn’t be anyone around right now anyway. Early morning with clouds passing through the sky, the grass is damp from the night before. She wishes for light rain, because when she’s flying and the rain hits her face it feels like the spray of water from surfing on a wave. Her memories of the beach are always filled with pleasure. She closed her eyes and imagined the sand beneath her toes, the sound of the waves breaking on the beach, and the feeling of cold salt water washing over her skin.

Marisol smiled and covered her eyes from the sun as it came out from behind a cloud. It was time to do what she came her for, whether she would get rain or not. She had dressed in thin layers to protect against the cold morning air and she pulled her fleece jacket tightly around her shoulders before she got on the broom and sailed a few feet into the air. As she started bobbing around, she noticed the way the sunlight caught the sparkling dew on the grass. She kicks off her shoes and skims her toes along in the grass, laughing at the dampness tickling her feet. She should get higher and enjoy the wind in her hair, but for now she is content to feel water on her skin.

Finally - after many days in the library and the lake - Skya brought herself to go to the quidditch pitch again. She saw her belly grow a little bit too much and felt her arms and legs getting saggier than usual. Well, actually they never were something you would call saggy, but if she wanted to prevent that from happening the girl should keep doing sports. Back at home she always flew around with her cousins or surfed with her friends in Hawaii. There was nothing better than fresh water drops touching your skin. Oh, not to mention the smell. The smell is just amazing.

But sadly the lake here was nothing compared with the sea. The color, the scent, the feeling. All were so different, just like the sand. There was no problem for her to just lay down in Hawaii, but doing that would definitly hurt somewhere at the lake. What bothered her the most were these mermaids that screamed sometimes without any reason.

So to avoid them and stop getting homesick she thought it would be a good idea to play quidditch with herself. It was very exhausting of course, but it still was fun. The Slytherin also had to keep her summer body.

As she arrived there she saw another girl, but she surely wasn't a Slytherin even though Skya recognized her from somewhere. As she thought about who she could be she walked towards the other one who was definitly enjoying that her bare feet touched the grass. I think her name is Marisol... The moment she was able to see the other girls face properly Skya was sure it was her. "Hey there Marisol! You know you don't have to wash your feet with the little water on the grass." The Slytherin grinned cheerly. "Aguamenti!" She pointed her wand to Marisol's feet - careful not to wet her clothes - and shortly after to her own as she now had this urge to feel water on her skin too.

It was almost too easy for Marisol to get lost enjoying the feeling of cold dew flicking from the grass onto her feet. She could almost imagine her toes were curling in the sand at the edge of the tide line as a wave rushed in and broke upon the beach. The feel of the saltwater scent, grains under her toes, and icy water while she watched the movements of the sea were all part of her surfing ritual and half of the experience when it came to adjusting to the Scottish coast. Marisol went to Sandend Bay a few times a week when she was back home and she always used a wetsuit even in the summer. She would love to go somewhere with bigger waves some day, but for now the girl was fine with smaller ones nearer to home because her sister liked to come along and watch.

Sadly there were no waves here on the lake, or nearby beaches in walking distance where she could just go ahead and catch one whenever she liked so she had to settle for going outside in the rain instead. She didn't mind when it got cold either, she could just wrap up warmer or use a spell to keep herself dry if all she wanted to do was watch the rain fall, sometimes she could close her eyes and imagine she was back home and listening to her sister read out loud while it rained outside the cottage windows.

She grins as the water droplets begin to soak her feet and the hem of her black leggings. Then she hears somebody call her name and her eyes pop open to see the face of a familiar looking blonde. Her smile widens, it’s always better to have company than be alone and Marisol has always liked being surrounded by people. She laughed when the other girl make a comment about washing her feet on the grass. Anybody in their year should recognise Skya from classes with her dyed blonde hair and loud honesty.

Mari thought about landing on the grass and striking up a conversation but she found out what Skya really meant when she felt her feet get a thorough soaking from the icy water flowing out Skya’s wand tip. ”That’s one way to take a morning shower!” she grinned and flew closer to the other girl, taking out her own wand as she did. It was starting to get a little warmer so she took off her cardigan and wrapped it around her waist. ”how about you join me up here for a water fight?” they didn't even need to get very high in the air, a couple of feet from the ground like she was now with their feet skimming the floor, but using brooms would be faster and more fun than just standing there spraying each other.

((Permission to godmode was granted))

"Oh, with pleaure!" The girl grinned mischievously and hopped on her broom. The light morning wind touching her skin and playing with her hair were at least similar to the wind at the sea. Besides the fainter intensity it brought another smell than salt and fish in her nose, the scent of fresh grass. It was pleasant too of course, but to get in the perfect mood for a water fight it was missing. Plus the scent of the sea was better than anything, so it would make her in the perfect mood for everything. But the sound of waves was missing too - the only other noise you could hear here was the one of creaking wood. Seriously, how old were these towers and the seating places in general? Even her grandparents probably watched the quidditch matches from there, if not also her grandgrandparents.

Speaking of qudditch - why did never anybody combine quidditch with water? It would be way more fun to just slash the Quaffle through the goal with water coming out of your wand. Oh. Yeah, wands. Now she saw the problem with that. Even though the thought of underwater quidditch sounded kind of cool too - if it wouldn't make the Quaffle slower, but that would only be a problem for Chasers like herself. Maybe she will arrange something like that if she ever becomes a professional quidditch player in a team. It always was her dream as she was small and it didn't change until now, even though being an auror seemed to be thrilling too.

The touch of cold water took her out of her thoughts. Skya did not have to think about were it came from. Of course the girl she just agreed to have a water fight with and in a blink of an eye she had a pretty awesome idea. "Why don't we organize a little beach party at the lake? You know, with some beachballs and a big campfire with marshmallows and stuff?" She put on a big grin and flew a little closer to Marisol. "We just need some more people, so we should either run through the corridors and the courtyard and scream BEACH PARTY STARTING THIS AFTERNOOON", she threw her hand in the air and made some weird hand movements, "or just ask some friends or print some flyers. Of course we could do all of them too if you want."

As soon as Skya grabbed her broom she turned on her broomstick and flew up but in the opposite direction to her to put some distance between them for this water fight. She stayed lower than usual out of caution because the last thing she wanted was to slip in water on the handle and fall off her broom in front of the other girl from a great height and have to be taken to the hospital wing or something, and so she stopped going up around her own height or just a little bit more. Once she was there, Marisol fired off a bunch of water spells. ”Aqua Eructo! Aqua Eructo! Aqua Eructo!” At least one of them managed to get Skya, although instead of firing back right away like Mari expected, the Slytherin grinned widely and flew a lot closer causing Mari to watch her in confusion.

Marisol nodded enthusiastically and lowered her wand while the other witch went on about organising a beach party next to the lake with so many her favourite things – except there was no sand, but she supposed they could just use their imaginations. Her eyes glossed over as she pictured the whole thing and Skya carried on talking about how they were going to invite people. ”Why don’t we fly through the corridors?” she asked the slightly soggy blonde with a chuckle, they were on brooms after all and flying was so much quicker than running. ”Although we might get into trouble for that,” she said while smiling and biting the nail polish on the tips of her fingers like she often did when nervous, which is exactly how the idea of getting caught flying in the school made her fell.

”Running and flyers it is then! We should get back to the library and get started making those flyers – oh, and get started setting this thing up! I know somebody who can bribe food from the house elves if you can figure out how to set up the campfire.” Marisol beamed as she thought about how amazing this would all turn out, and even though the other girl was hovering right in front of her looking a bit damp she had momentarily forgotten about the water fight.
